First Campaigner Challenge: MANILIUS

Shadows crept across the wall but nothing was solid; all void. He could see everything like boat captains though the silhouettes never existed. His monologue was audible in darkness and he walked in his mind only to see light.

He knew nothing of darkness until he used his iris in daylight. This world could not play right and he knew it was a show; this show featured light disguised as humans, therefore, being able to see light with his eyes closed proved that he was not seeing things.

He begun to decay the very beliefs which made him human. The veil lifts. He is now surrounded by colourful propelling sheets but, yellow and blue, orange and green stood out.

     - What do these colours mean, and are these signs of me being awake, if so, how can that be if my eyes are closed?

He now knows the world is a mirage and that the eyes are the main source. As he opens his eyes and whispers good morning, everything faded.

Now that's a descriptive piece with much room for interpretation. Nice one! :)

I liked this. To truly see something you have to use more than your eyes.

Very well thought out. Looking beyond the veil to see more than the naked eye sees. Great piece.

I have to say, my initial reaction is that it's beautiful but takes a bit too much interpretation... kinda like a lot of poems that way, so if that's what you were shooting for, you're in the right ballpark!

How exactly do boat captains see everything? :D Thanks for joining in the challenge.

@Chris - Tis a pun for the word "sea." Boat captains can see much when at sea, as the character has great vision and can "see" everything, you see?

Thanks for explaining the metaphor of sea and see. I didn't get it before. Good work. :)

I wrote a chidren's story "don't eat my toes, OK?" it's number 181. Thanks for reading. I hope you like it. :)
